Clean air for Brent - residents' questions answered

Clean Air for Brent LINK have published the first batch of answers to questions asked by the public at its meeting held at the Civic Centre in July.

I think this is an excellent shoe-horn into a very important and extremely contentious debate. The motor car has to be tamed for a whole list of reasons and many cities around the world are making impressive progress in this regard.

Only politicians can change the rules and regulations that will eventually tame the car but they will only bow to public pressure or the prospect of public pressure.

That public pressure will come about as more and more people come to realise the true price of a proportion of the public enjoying the luxury of private transport that is largely paid for in real-life terms by the majority of us in the shape of reduced health, deaths and injuries and roads largely clogged by private cars inhibiting their more efficient use by buses and cyclists.
