Despite being old, it has been redesigned by a modern interior designer,to the point where weeping and pulling ones hair out comes naturally, as you walk from room to room. Anyway, I decided to have a quick look to see who lived there. In 1901, Holly Grove Cottage on Elstree Road, Bushey was occupied by Henry Padley, farmer. He had previously lived in 1881 at Preston Farm, Hyde, again farmer of 50 acres, employing two men. He wasn't the only farmer at that address. It was taken from Meade east field, looking approximately north-east through the hedge to Goldringe (strip), separated by three Oak trees that were of hedgerow origin with Goldringe field beyond the oak trees.'<br /><br />I stand corrected, and have replied:<br />'I used the caption, about the location of the scene, because when I first had the postcard, years ago, I took it with me when walking out on the Country Park, and thought I had worked out where it was taken from! As you probably took the photo, you know better!'Philip Granthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08216646114377430489noreply@blogger.com
