Tokyngton Library to be sold to Islamic Cultural Association

Council officers are recommending that the Brent Executive agree to sell off the closed down Tokyngton Library in Monks Park to the Islamic Cultural Association for an undisclosed sum. A bid by Tokyngton Homes is kept in reserve in case the preferred sale does not go through.

  2. As far as I know Cllr Butt sometimes worships at the Monks Park Masjid which is co-located with the current ICA, just around the corner from Tokyngton Library. I have no information on trustees at present.

The sale price has not been released for 'commercial reasons'. The matter will be decided at the Brent Executive tomorrow and I would expect any councillor's interests to be declared in line with normal procedure.

  3. I have checked on the Council's website (Register of interests - history)
Muhammed Butt was listed as a trustee of the ICA 72-74 Harrow Road added 25.08.09. it was removed on 04.02.10, added again on 18.03.11 and removed again on 07.06.12. It is not currently registered as an interest.
