This has been forwarded to me. Unfortunately the web link for further informations does not work and the mobile phone is unavailable. I have emailed for further information and the map. I will update when received.
UPDATE: The website has been updated but has less information than already supplied!
Wembley High Road closure (www.brent.gov.uk/wembleyhighroad )
Significant upgrades are being planned for Wembley High Road. We are working with TfL to coordinate a date for the upgrades to start, as it will impact bus routes and diversions will be required. We will update this webpage with information on when the upgrades will be taking place once this is agreed.
This is so a much-needed upgrade of the road can take place between Cecil Avenue and The Triangle, completing the transformation of Wembley High Road.
Diversions will be in place and more information will be made available on this webpage.
Anyone know why the whole Wembley High Road project is so delayed? Conway the previous highway maintenance contractor was given this job and suddenly they stopped working and left it resurfaced and there are parts of Wembley high road that haven’t even been repaved with the paving blocks!
ReplyDeleteShould be fine as long as they have workable / sensible diversions in place.
ReplyDeleteHow come no maps of diversions and bus routes to look exactly what happening
ReplyDeleteI have tried. Rang the number on the info and no answer, Tried to go to the website named and had an error message. Emailed the person responsible and no response. Does not bode well for the project.
ReplyDeleteJust tried again. 'Not possible to connect your call' and website still down.
ReplyDeleteOnce again I assume that they are upgrading the road with no consideration to cycling. The high road is very dangerous to cycle along, but is an important connection way. Traffic is just going to get worse and worse if they don't think about alternatives for those that can.
ReplyDeleteWhat about the Buses? 18/83/182/92 just for starters, if its a full road closure.
ReplyDelete5 MONTHS!!! will take us to March 2025, what happens to deliveries and buses, very little footfall for the shops, will they be compensated? and what about big events at Wembley Stadium.?
ReplyDeleteLast time they closed this section to replace the Sewer that had 25 metres of concrete pumped into it. They told us 1 month and it took 3.
ReplyDeleteThere is a very useful website for checking on roadworks by utility companies etc. in Brent - dates of work, which companies are doing it, with an interactive map.
ReplyDeleteBut if you go to works to be done in Wembley High Road by Brent Council it tells you:
''Detailed information for these planned, future works are not available because Brent (London Borough) does not currently subscribe to use Causeway one.network professionally.
If you’re a member of the public who would find this information useful, please contact Brent (London Borough) directly.'
The message from the Project Manager above refers to the total closure of the High Road from Cecil Avenue to Wembley Triangle (including all arms of the Triangle, so that would mean access to and from Wembley Hill Road as well).
The proposed timing of this would mean that all lorries delivering materials to the Brent Council / Wates construction sites at Cecil Avenue and Ujima House would not be able to use the only routes which they are permitted to use under the approved Construction Logistics Plans for those developments, so that they could not legally carry out any work on those sites during the period of the closure.
An interesting problem, of Brent Council's own making!
Thanks Philip. I drew Brent Council's attention to the issue re roadworks notification some time ago via Twitter some time with no response. Even worse when you go to Brent Council direct they don't respond. Still no response by phone or email given on the notification and the website gives an error message. Another fine mess Brent Council has got us in.
ReplyDeleteIt would make more sense for them to start the work when there is much less traffic once the schools close in July, the residents and commuters can then have time over summer to get used to the diversion routes without there being utter traffic chaos during term time. By September when schools start, everyone will be used to it and have their diversion routes sorted and traffic would probably run a little better.
ReplyDeleteThey really should start the works at the Triangle at the start of the long school summer holidays in July to minimise disruption and so that residents and commuters have the summer to get used to their diversion routes as traffic will be much quieter then. By the time September arrives and schools start again, everyone in the area will be used to the works and have their routes sorted!
ReplyDeleteThe works are now delayed so that TfL can sort our alternative bus routes. Works will now start on January 6th 2025 and last c16 weeks. https://wembleymatters.blogspot.com/2024/09/wembley-high-road-reconstruction-works.html
ReplyDeleteSo many potholes make the 182 bus journey less comfortable
