I think it is against because I'm not confident that we are following our, some of our, policies around the tall zone and I think it is out of character.
The reasons she gave were very similar to those given by councillors who voted against.
Cllr Kelcher told Cllr Akram that they'd had the chance to vote and it stood. Cllr Dixon did not contribute further. Cllr Akram said the reasons for rejection were quite clear, it was overbearing and not in character with the area. He added, 'It's quite upsetting that it's been put forward and approved, but that's the decision that has been made.'
During the discussion and questioning of planning officers there were concerns that it was a tall building but not in a tall building zone and that this approval would set a precedent for more tall buildings on Elm Road, especially as the developer had been buying up the 2 storey houses. Much of the support for the application came from local businesses on the High Road. Planning officers said that it contributed to the growth of Wembley as a metropolitan area.

This is an aparthotel. It is not giving our residents any sort of benefit whatsover, apart from blocking the light, outside of a tall building zone in a completely residential area.
Ironically on the other side of theChiltern railway is Princes Court that used to be designated a site of distinguished suburban development. I don't know if that is still the case.

So Cllr Kelcher stitches up Wembley Central again and Cllr Dixon doesn't have the guts to make a decision either way.

This planning application will have to be referred to the Greater London Authority for a final decision.
And who will they listen to?

Totally out of character and does not fit in with the streetscape. How on earth can they approve this ridiculous build? the local neighbours will suffer the brunt of this monster build!
Would have helped if the Conservative Cllr voted against, but he voted for the build!
Kelcher will keep his chairmanship and the money that goes with it, while Brent suffers.
Don't forget his wife Cllr Mili Patel is Deputy Leader of Brent Council - between them they get about £70K per year in councillor allowances all paid for by us hardworking council tax payers and yet our concerns are ignored.
Hi stupid for any Councillor to abstain on a Planning Application. What is the point of being on Planning and taking a "special" responsibility allowance if you are incapable of making a judgement about a planning application. The ability to 'abstain' should clearly be removed and any Councillor incapable of making up their mind removed from the Planning Committee.

To be fair on Brent, national and global forces are also at market play, but Brent should start to represent and support its existing residents in a more agile, equitable and knowing way as certain other London councils are long since fully able to do.
Kilburn High Road, the next high street south is Oxford Street, how many local authorities would use such a prime economic location better? Answer, hundreds of them would.
Butt must have been pulling on those strings hard Kelcher couldn't say no even if he wanted to and as for the one that abstained that should not be allowed at all. Yes or No simples
