Cricklewood campaigners have been quick off the mark after Cricklewood Post Office was included in the list of potential closures. Kilburn, Harlesden and Kingsbury Post Offices are also on the list. Please let Wembley Matters know of any campaigns for these and I will publicise.
Save Cricklewood Post Office have launched a petition and are asking residents to sign. SIGN HERE or use QR Code below to go straight to the petition.
We, the undersigned, demand that the Post Office keep our local Cricklewood Office open.
This post office is at the heart of our community, providing essential services that so many of us rely on. Losing it would hurt not just our local economy but also the spirit of Cricklewood.
Please join us in supporting the Cricklewood Post Office and helping to preserve our beloved community hub.
The Post Office is still owned by the Government. The plans for closures may have started under the previous Conservative Government but they will now need to be finalised and confirmed by the new Labour Government. As ultimately it is the Labour Minister in charge who could stop the closures it is they who need to be challenged to intervene. If the Post Office(s) are still closed despite the protests it will be Labour's responsibility.
ReplyDeletePost offices are old fashioned
ReplyDeleteAnd your point is?
DeletePost offices are vital local services run by trusted members of the local community
Last week I saw customers...
- pay in cash
- get help with filling in documents
- post parcels to their online customers even with pre pay postage labels you still need to drop the parcel off there to get a roof of postage receipt
- buy stamps
- get advice on local services.
Stamps are a luxury item now at £1.65 per one. People who buy a lot of them have the resources to acquire them in other ways. Parcel drop offs are everywhere now. Advice on local services can be done elsewhere such as online. It’s clear to me why they will become extinct. Very old fashioned
DeleteThanks for your concern for other people who use and work in these post offices.
DeleteAnd don't forget one day you too will be 'old fashioned'!!!
The Post Office needed Royal Mail to survive, but what is it now? Nothing. An abusive entity that destroyed the life of post masters. For thosr who can afford stamps they can be bought anywhere. For businesses, there are franking machines for offices. What do we need a post offics for? What is its core business if it has no postmen?
DeletePlease think about the impact on other people.
DeleteThanks for sharing this!
ReplyDeleteOnly two storey so its LAND. Hopefully something more substantive can be offered to Cricklewood Major Town Centre residents than 'go elsewhere' for Post Office services. Wider area congestion from needless travel too being imposed on new car-free housing tower residents.
ReplyDeleteMarket decides tends to demand car-free tower housing only as closely packed-in as possible.
