The leaflet purported to contain a copy of a survey filled in by Michael Maurice the Conservative candidate.
It is clear from the leaflet above that as well as the claim that the candidate himself would not be voting Conservative that the leaflet attributed racist views to the candidate including the claim that the Coalition's immigration failure was 'rapidly leading the United Kingdom towards inevitable Armageddon and ultimate destruction.'
An independent handwriting expert employed by Michael Maurice proved it was not the candidate's handwriting and he is reported to be taking up the matter with the police.
Cllr Reg Colwill, Maurice's election agent, warned that in the event of a close result the Conservatives would call for a re-election.
The implication here is that Labour would be tougher on immigration. Nasty nasty stuff.
ReplyDeleteMillion dollar question who approved the contents of the leaflet? Was Labour MP for Brent North Barry Gardiner and Brent Council Leader Cllr Butt aware of this leaflet? Has election agent being sacked?
ReplyDeleteBetter question is - Was it true? - now that is much more interesting.
DeleteIt's the agent who carries the can. Something like this can be a criminal matter.
ReplyDeleteI do wonder who actually completed the leaflet.
I'd blame CD (or was she AB?) but it's Crufts this week so I imagine she's busy buffing up her canines.

DeleteShould withdraw from the election completely more like. Easy way to find out the owner of the handwriting. Everyone write a fawning letter to their local councillor so they get a reply and then upload it.
ReplyDeleteAppalling desperation of Brent Labour to win by election. If they're willing to do this or unknowingly were duped into this, what else are they getting up to or being duped into behind closed doors?!
