Fryent Way closed on Saturday June 1st for Champions League Final coach parking

I asked Brent Council about this notice as the number given was not responding. This is their information for residents:

On the 1st June Wembley stadium will be hosting the Champions League Final. There are two foreign teams in the final Dortmund and Real Madrid. UEFA have taken over all the official car parks for the event. Therefore, approximately 113 coaches will need to be parked on Fryent Way. Dortmund will park on Fryent Way, and to enable this to take place, the road will be closed to through traffic from around 23:00 on the 31st May to around 2am on the 2nd June.* Traffic are to follow the diversion routes that will be signed.

Fryent Way Car Park will be for staff parking only. All pre-booked.

* Note the timings given by the council for the beginning of the closure are different than those on the sign.  The closure of Fryent Way often results in long queues of traffic accessing Salmon Street through the restricted width entry point on the roundabout.

Philip Grant took this photograph 2011 when it was Barcelona that used Fryent Way for coach parking. Some came all the way from Spain while others picked up fans at the airport.

They used to have a huge car park for coaches right outside Wembley Stadium but hey that's been built on by wealthy developers with no proper plan from Labour run Brent Council re how to handle traffic issues, despite them issuing a climate emergency and claiming to back plans to stop traffic pollution!

Now residents will not be allowed to get anywhere near Fryent Park because of this high earning event in early summer.

Will Wembley Park also be clogged with traffic whilst these 113 coaches try and off load their passengers nearer the stadium?

Will there also be parking at Fryent Park for all the concerts at the stadium this year??? Wembley Stadium is supposed to be a public transport destination 😞

It’s one day. Did you see the same yesterday for the FA cup final? No, so calm down.

It won't be one day though - it'll be the same throughout the whole of the summer with all the concerts coming up - multi-billion pound stars and their promototers making millions while we have to suffer all the traffic aggravation and bus diversions and we can't use our wonderful local park - and us council tax payers will have to pay for the clean up after each event.

So much misinformation in the comments just winds others up further. Perhaps people should ask the council directly rather than speculate? It's just moaning for the sake of moaning otherwise!

Frynt way was open for the FA Cup final, so not sure you can compare the two events

If you think it's mis information on here why don't you find out the correct information and ask Martin to publish a guest piece from you on here bearing your full name?

Last year Fryent Park was used for event day parking at £25 per car for concerts - so the same will surely apply this year too.

It's not only the traffic issues, bus diversions and drunken and noisy sport/concert fans that inconvenience and upset residents - what about the police helicopters???

Last Saturday we got home about 4pm and then had helicopters circling over our house for over four hours - on a nice summer evening we had to sit indoors with our windows closed to get away from the intolerable noise! How is this allowed to happen? What impact do Wembley Stadium, Brent Council and the police think this has on our mental health???

We've lived in Wembley since the 1960s and have always loved living near the stadium but it's now getting unbearable.
