'Blooming marvellous' gifts for Wembley Central & Alperton residents

Sorting the plants

From WCRA

Wembley Central and Alperton Residents’ Association’s  'Blossom' initiative began during the first Covid19 lockdown in April 2020 when they were able to gift bedding plants to isolating residents in Wembley Central and Alperton.

More than 6,800 plants were distributed, the idea supported by local residents, the Alperton Community Group and a number of local businesses in Wembley.

In 2021 WCARA have hugely increased their efforts, securing more donations from even more local businesses, organisations and residents, they ordered over 12,000 plants which WCARA members and volunteers sorted, packed into bags and delivered to homes in Wembley Central and Alperton.

The aim of 'Blossom' is purely to bring a smile and happiness to residents in the local area, especially as the past year been so hard for many in the Wembley Central and Alperton communities.      WCARA hope this gift of plants will bring solace and help neighbours as life gets back to normal - whether you have a tiny balcony, small garden or even a larger plot it's great to green up your environment and encourage nature, as we all know gardens have been so important for our health in recent times.

WCARA would like to thank all their supporters and sponsors who have helped to make 'Blossom' possible so far - it's great to see such support for our local community.

Bedding plants offer to Wembley Central and Alperton residents to boost morale under Covid-19

Wembley Central and Alperton Residents' Association have come up with a novel idea to help residents through the Covid-19 crisis. It is particularly useful at a time when most garden centres are closed.

Chirag Gir of the WCARA said:
We are looking at different ways which will help keep spirits up during this extraordinary time for all of us. One such project we will be running is "Blossom 2020", which would bring a positive impact on mental health of our residents. The project will involve providing bedding plants to residents in Wembley Central and Alperton.

This will help boost morale amongst our residents and also brighten up the front gardens, streets and surroundings around us. We believe this is a great initiative to support our residents and has been widely supported by residents and local businesses.

We are expecting to have delivery of the plants on Monday 27th April and we aim to deliver to residents on Monday 27th/Tuesday 28th April.

New Wembley Central and Alperton RA invite to Public Meeting February 28th

It is always welcome to see a new Residents' Association setting up in Brent as an antidote to apathy and a stimulus for participation and democratic representation.

This is what Wembley Central and Alperton Residents' Association say about themselves:

WELCOME TO WCARA

We are an independent, non-affiliated and non-political residents' association formed in 2017 to serve the residents of Wembley Central and Alperton. Our aim is simple, to work together, to create community cohesion and represent views of our residents to elected Brent Council officials. We have been formed by members of the Keep Wembley Tidy Action Group and One Tree Hill Residents Association. We believe that a strong organisation with clear residential support is needed now more than ever if we are to protect and enhance the things we like about our area. Membership is open to ALL residents of Wembley Central and Alperton wards and we welcome all sections of the community.

We will be holding a public meeting on Wednesday 28th February at 7pm, inviting our Councillors, Brent Council Officials and officials from local enforcement teams to debate issues and concerns we have for our area. The meeting will be held at Barham Primary School on Danethorpe Road, Wembley HA0 4RQ.

We will also be holding elections for a committee and looking for invitations to elect a Chair, Vice Chair, Treasurer, Secretary and committee members. To find out how you can get involved, why not join us.
