Cllr Rajan-Seelan
I understand that Wembley Central councillor, Rajan-Seelan has resigned from the Labour Party. He will continue as a councillor and, as yet, there has been no announcement that he has joined another political party.
Cllr Rajan-Seelan was one of the eight sitting councillors not selected by the Board that chose candidates for the May 2026 borough election.
His background is in engineering and he is a member of the GMB union. He currently serves on the Council's licensing committees and the Community and Wellbeing Scrutiny Committee.
Cllr Rajan-Seelan's fellow Wembley Central councillors are Cllr Sonia Shah and Cllr Ketan Sheth,
The councillor has been offered the opportunity to make a statement to Wembley Matters explaining his move.

It’s disappointing to see Cllr Rajan Seelan behaving in such a self-interested way. While it’s true that he didn’t progress through the selection process fairly, it’s unrealistic for him to portray himself as a particularly active local councillor. Cllr Shah is based in the United States for work, and it’s really Cllr Sheth who carries the bulk of the workload and shows real commitment to the community. I’ll be supporting Cllr Sheth and the Liberal Democrats next May. I live just off Wembley High Road.
Tatler's vengeful destruction of Brent Labour is begining to happen already. Labour Party members have started resigning, now a councillor defection. We should expect quite a few more events in the coming weeks. Does Tatler and her allies care that they are destroying Brent Labour, it is doubtful, she and her close allies have never cared about Brent, only their careers and/or position.
The Greens appear to be the only alternative to the other awful parties and their wannabes.
I'm sure he wont be the only one to leave before the elections next year.
Do you mean Cllr Ketan Sheth or his niece Cllr Krupa Sheth?
Krupa Sheth is a Toykngton councillor along with Muhammed Butt. Ketan Sheth was moved to Wembley Central ward.
This guys a joke, he goes from.labour to tory because he was deselected - bet he went with his begging bowl to all the other political parties
No integrity
He didn't go to the Greens.
He did the lowest amount of casework out of the ENTIRE Labour Group, clearly the tories will take anyone to make up numbers
yup, scaping the barrel. I bet they'd take Towerblock Tatler too. It's where she belongs.
Oh no, he was the best one.
There is a long list of 'principled' socialists who ditched Labour and got enticed by the Tories in Brent - only to then lose in the next election and disappear. I am sure that Martin can produce a long list to prove the point - where is Bertha?
Is that the same Cllr Sheth who endorsed the Hydrotherapy Pool closure at Northwick Park? He won't get my vote - the Lib Dems will as the best chance to keep both Labour and Tories out of Wembley Central!
How do you know he did the lowest amount of casework? If you have this information for all Brent Counvillors that would be very interesting to see before the next local elections!
This is a joke isn't it?
