Harrow Lib Dems submit FOI on Northwick Park Hydrotherapy Pool decision making and support petition opposing closure

Closure of Northwick Park Hospital Hydrotherapy Pool

The Harrow LibDems are concerned about the closure of Northwick Park Hospital Hydrotherapy Pool

Northwick Park Hospital recently announced the closure of their Hydrotherapy Pool.

The announcement appears to have come as a surprise to many including many of patients that have benefitted from the pool.

The Chair of Harrow LibDems has submitted a Freedom of Information (FOI) request to LNWH NHS Trust to ask what for records of decision making relating to the closure of the Hydrotherapy pool.

“We know that patients will be concerned about this matter and we are doing everything we can to find out answers from the Hospital management team on this matter” said Joseph Gaunt, Chair of Harrow LibDems. “It is vital to have facilities like these in our community to help people in recovery”.

Pippa Nightingale
Chief Executive of London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust says "I can assure you that we did proactively advise local MPs and health scrutiny council leads of the pool’s closure at an early stage" - when was this exactly, it must be documented so why not provide proof of this claim???

And if this is true how come MP Barry Gardiner didn’t start asking questions before???

And where are our other local MPs in Brent and Harrow - why aren't they fighting against this poor decision which will put more pressure on the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital and will mean longer journeys for physically vulnerable patients.

And Northwick Park Hospital Executives say those using the hydrotherapy pool there can go to normal pools instead???

Normal pools are dropping their temperatures...

"Mrs Watson, 55, who lives in south-west England, has a rare type of muscular dystrophy called central core disease.

She stopped swimming due to the lower pool temperatures.

"I used to come out and I couldn't get warm," she said.

Central core disease is a genetic condition affecting the muscles, usually leading to weakness in the muscles closest to the centre of the body, such as hips and shoulders.

Swimming is a non-weight-bearing exercise, making it ideal for Mrs Watson. For 10 years, she swam five times a week."

Northwick Park Hospital leadership is concerning. Google Simon Crawford to see why this hospital needs reform. A back slapping mates culture supersedes patient care.

Can't believe Pippa Nightingale, the highly paid CEO of LNWH Trust hasn't been on top of this before ... they are do incredibly behind other private sector bodies ...

"The plan covers 11 workstreams, including estates, medicine, travel, transport, waste and resources. Proposed improvements include a 50% increase in domestic waste recycling, greater use of reusable equipment and PPE, requiring suppliers with contracts over £5 million to have a carbon reduction plan, and reducing over-prescribing and pharmaceutical waste."

The CEO says we are private users of the pool, so how come we get NHS booking forms.

Even if you are private users you are using it to stop having issues so saving NHS money!!!
