This new forum is your chance to:

  • Hear directly from Lime about how their e-bike service operates in Brent.
  • Share feedback, raise concerns, and ask questions.
  • Learn about new parking bay proposals and how you can get involved.

Since last year, we've installed over 150 dedicated parking bays to help keep pavements clear and bikes safely stored. We’re now consulting on additional locations - come along to find out more.

Lime electric bikes have been used by over 100,000 people for nearly 2 million trips in Brent since 2019. Together, we’re reducing car use and cutting carbon emissions. Last year, we worked closely with Lime to improve the service, resulting in several new measures.

Agenda:

  • Welcome & Opening Remarks
Cllr Krupa Sheth – Cabinet Member for Environment & Enforcement, Brent Council (5 mins)
  • Update from Lime
Alice Pleasant – Senior Public Affairs Manager, Lime (10 mins)
  • Update from Brent Council
Tim Martin – Transportation Planning Manager, Brent Council (10 mins)
  • Q&A Session
    All speakers (35 mins)
  • Meeting Close

Under 14s hacking the bikes still a big problem - and remains unresolved as is the dumping/parking of bikes irresponsibly.

Some of the locations taken over for Lime bike parking is also daft.

Examples: taking away a disabled bay in Park Lane (never seen a Lime bike there yet) when there are bike racks on wide pavement just 10 meters away or taking much needed parking spaces in Sudbury Town when there is an unused car park area in front of Sudbury & Harrow Road Station on the opposite side of the road.

I am sure that Wembley Matters readers can come up with more examples.

My street has one located and to date it has never been used, it would better serve as a Moped/Scooter bay as currently they park haphazardly in the Residents CPZ taking up the space of up to 3 cars, and they don't pay for a permit! As for the High School students using them I have no clue as to how to they can prevent them as conditions for use say that anyone should be over 18.

Limes are so popular in City of Westminster where the council has major invested in separated cycle routes and strongest protects all precious public spaces. South Kilburn car-free towers can't connect/won't connect/ won't plug in to this existing cycle network adjacent. Social exclusion is zoned, ditto its copper wire broadband, even to its new car-free housing tenanted towers.

Martin could you find out on what evidence did Tim Martin decide to locate these unpopular bays for Lime bikes?

Very little thought went into this initially, now they want to do a consultation after the fact, as usual it's all b******t.

Would like to know how many crimes are being carried out on these Lime Bikes?

Easily obtainable, easy to dispose of, they all look the same so not identifiable as a someone's personally owned or stolen bike might be.

Lime/TFL/Mayor of London have created a monster 😡

Street care in Westminster is real. The contrast crossing into Brent is street un-care. Like falling off a cliff, even though its all Veolia's job. So these Lime Bikes are in two very different London's.

The bays in Northwick Park Ward are all empty LOL, great councillors we have?

Bikes likely all gone Central London where separated cycleways and greenway investments are funded have happened. No such luck in car-free tenanted towers population growth Brent. No transport infrastructure for car-freed Brented families.

AND when you respond to their consultation and say that the location for the bays is wrong and suggest better alternatives you get ignored. It is the usual 'we know best' arrogance.

Here in Brent the fault is with Labour Councillors who entered into a daft contract allowing Lime to do as they please without any effective controls. Now those same Councillors are depriving local areas of street parking spaces even when they are told the location is all wrong.

Direct cycleways/ green ways throughout the Great West 6 boroughs car-free housing tenanted towers city. We beg our Lords to be full new City Plan transparent with the public.

Obviously one of the big issues regarding cycling in Brent is that there are no segregated cycle lanes and no plans to build any. The cycle lanes that do exist don't join up to any of the cycling infrastructure in central..
