Engagement Event at former Bowls Pavilion, King Edward VII Park, Wembley on Saturday 12.30pm to 4.30pm

The group who have taken over the disused Bowling Club Pavilion at King Edward VII Park are holding the above event on Saturday. to discuss how it will serve the community.

Great idea, but unfortunately it falls on the Rugby Challenge Cup Event Day with other matches starting in the morning. Expect the usual parking restrictions and bus diversions with the additional complication that the Bakerloo and Lioness Lines are not running  at Wembey Central and Wembley Stadium station will be closed.

It wil be interesting to see if Big Green Hub take on board what locals want , especially went it comes to access to a cafe, and toilets throughout the day within open hours of the Park. It would be nice to see it run like Roundwood Park Cafe. It would also be nice to see the surrounding land be converted to a Community Garden run by Volunteers who would grow herbs, vegetables, and flowers that people could buy and/or use in the Cafe. Installation of a Water Fountain would be greatly appreciated.

Information: Description
The Big Green Social Action Hub CIC is a legacy project of Wembley Central Big Local. It was created by local residents to aid their community. We are a Wembley-based community organisation tackling social isolation and improving wellbeing through inclusive cultural, educational, and physical activities. From coffee mornings and salsa classes to wellbeing walks, a book club and community allotment, the Hub creates safe, accessible spaces for people to connect, learn, and grow. By reinvesting in the community, it strengthens local cohesion and supports vulnerable groups across Brent and neighbouring boroughs.

The Big Local Grant was for Wembley Central which was declared an area of deprivation.

The bowling pavillion in King Edwards Park is in Wembley Hill.

Why is our Wembley Central Big Local Grant being spent outside of the area it was supposed to help and support???

King Edward's Park is in Wembley Hill - the Big Local Grant was given to Wembley Central where we urgently need a community centre - who authorised giving this money to Wembley Hill????

When this lottery money was awarded in 2016 the Bowling Pavilion and part of the park was in Wembley Central, many of the projects that were also supprted were out of the Wembley Central area and this was accepted by Big Lottery funders so its onlt right that King Eddies park benefits from the original funding irredpective that the council created a new ward years later. This ia not domething that the council had any control over.

Wembley Hill ward was created 5 years ago - the Big Local Grant Committee was would down end of last year so the remaining money should have been given to a project in Wembley Central Ward where it was meant to be spent :(

Agree we need a community centre in Wembley Central!

Originally Big local qas housed in chesterfield house which was later developed inro
250plus flats, 70 which were designated to the council in perpetuity the area that is now occupied by " little village charity" was designated as the community centre but big lottery did not get on board and that is why it was assigned to little village,
Do not be fooled, do not believe the hype , brent council could have put in their opinion and made it happen, they chose to do nothing as they may incur expense, otherwise why was it not supported????
Wske up people they do not have pur best interest at heart.

But it wasn't when the Big Local was wound down end of last year!

Wembley Central was supposed to get dedicated community space in the redveloped Ealing Road Library but instead Cllr Butt arranged for it to be rented out to the owner of Cha Shah cafe (apparently his mate) for storage!!!

Yes we also heard this.
Ex Labour Councillors in Wembley Central ward did nothing to help us residents.
