Darren Johnson, Green Assembly Member for the whole of London has issued a statement supporting parent groups in London campaigning against their schools being forcibly converted into academies. He said:
Forcing schools to
become academies is deeply wrong on every level, particularly when it flies in
the face of what the majority of local parents want. That is why I am giving my
full support to the Save Gladstone Park,
Save Roke and Thomas
Gamuel Primary school campaigners in
their battle to keep their schools as local authority-run schools, properly accountable to local people.
