It's good to see a number of Green and Independent candidates standing, and giving voters a wider choice in many Wards.
I know there have been boundary changes, and some Wards reduced from three to two councillors, but there does appear to have been quite a game of "musical seats" involving existing Labour Council members!
Can anyone say what the difference is between Conservatives and "Local Conservatives" (apart from wanting to try and distance yourself from Boris)?
I had to chuckle when I saw that one of the "subscribers" nominating the Lib Dem candidates for Wembley Central Ward was Mohammed Butt.
Everthing now seems to be a Labour Party expulsion issue - unless you are a cronie of the RIGHT members

Who are all these new people who have suddenly appeared and want to become councillors, have they been involved with the community? How do we know they even know how to represent us? No wonder the turnout at local elections is so low.

I personally know that one of the candidate's for the Barn-hill ward, Kathleen Fraser was (not sure if she currently retains that position) the chair person for the Chalk-Hill residents association. I also recall a conversation with her during which she said that she used to be a Councillor several years ago. So, she does have some 'experience' although, that alone won't be sufficient to ensure positive progress is made and sustained, if she is elected in May. She is obviously hoping to replace the current Councillor, Gaynor Lloyd who intends to step down, which is a pity because she is a very good Councillor, and will be much missed.
Anonymous, I'm sure that you know that the 'tone' of your opinion on 'new people' putting themselves forward to be Councillors, maybe misconstrued as being biased, hostile, and unfairly judgemental towards people you don't know. I politely suggest that you should give the candidates a chance to prove themselves before judging them. In addition to that, why do you assume that "the turnout at local elections is so low'' is because voters view candidates (like you) with suspicion and unfairly question their motives for standing? Can you provide credible evidence to back up your unfair and quite frankly, unrealistic assumption on 'low turnouts'? I reckon not, because to do that, you'd have to speak to every resident in Brent that doesn't vote in local elections, and I doubt that most of their reasons would match with your assumption about their motives.

Good on Butt. He has gone up in my estimation.
I'm afraid this was a 'non u' Muhammed. Nominating a candidate from another party is a Labour expulsion issue as I understand it.
