Illustrative image - not an actual scene from Barham Park!
Dear Edtor,
In the past few weeks I have observed what appears to be security guards patrolling Barham Park.
They have been using high spec binoculars and questioning people in the park.
Could anyone answer the following:
Why are they there?
Who are they?
Who is paying them?
Do they have the right to stop and question people?
Do they have the power to arrest or ban people from the park?
Also, surely this is a job for the community police officers.
Be grateful if anyone can answer the above?

Brent Enforcement Officers gone rogue, I have witnessed them harassing dog walkers quoting the by-laws of PSPO, but don't think they have the power to arrest or ban.
Community police are pathetic at doing anything
Very difficult to do anything for the community if your sitting in the van driving around your ward, complete waste of time.
Are they are 'rat' catchers? - lot of rats in the Park.
I don’t see an issue with this. Barham Park has an issue with people drinking and ASB. Let the council deal with it. Kind regards, another local resident
Sadly the Safer Neighbourhood Community Police Teams have been decimated. When originally devised each Brent electoral ward had 6 officers (1 Sergeant, 2 PCs and 3 PCSOs). Now the Sergeants are shared and most wards are lucky if they have 2 or 3 other officers in post. We were also promised that those Teams would be exclusively dedicated to patrolling the ward they were allocated to - this does not happen as the few officers we have are often taken on duties elsewhere be it events at Wembley Stadium, Notting Hill Carnival or other large scale events in London. With so few officers available they simply cannot cope with all issues that arise. So please do not blame the SNT officers team in your ward as it is not their fault. The fault lies with the decision makers who keep breaking their promise about the way the Safer Neighbourhood Police Team be staffed and the way they would operate.
Looking for new spots to build on
