South Kilburn residents call on Brent Council to act after their community room is taken over - immediate enforcement action demanded

The Chair of William Saville and William Dunbar House Residents' Association has written urgently and in some desperation to Brent Council officers and others asking for help following the takeover of their community room by homeless individuals.

 They write:

Our concerns are follows  Homeless individuals have broken into the community room and are refusing to leave despite  a Brent council officer told us a court injunction reportedly being applied for by the Building Manager

Progress has been very slow and the individuals remain on site, He now invited his friends and other homeless people into the community room

Residents, including children and elderly, are scared to go out in the evenings

Parents do not feel safe allowing children to play outside near the community garden area

There is a serious risk the community room will be used for drug dealing

The community room is now unusable. We have nowhere else to hold our Saturday coffee morning and other resident  important meetings

Residents have contacted the Police and a Crime Reference Number has been issued

We urgently request:

Immediate enforcement action to remove the individual/s

We request An update on the court injunction and expected timeline

Emergency security measures such as boarding up the room until resolved

Confirmation of steps to prevent future break-ins

Please treat this as a high-priority ASB and safeguarding matter.

I look forward to a response within 5 working days. If no action is taken we will escalate to our local Councillors and the Housing Ombudsman.

Kind regards,

Chair of William Saville Willliam Dunbar resident association.

I have have raised a members enquiry today:

Dear Housing Management Team,

I am raising a Member Enquiry following concerns recently raised by the Chair of the William Saville House and William Dunbar House Residents' Association regarding the community room serving residents of the estate.

I understand residents have reported that individuals have gained access to the community room and are refusing to leave, with concerns that the situation has persisted despite action reportedly being pursued by the building management team. Residents have also expressed concerns regarding safety, security and the continued use of the facility.

The concerns reported include:

• The continued occupation of the community room by individuals who are not authorised to use the facility.

• Reports that additional individuals have subsequently been invited into the space.

• Concerns from residents, including families with children and older residents, regarding personal safety and use of communal areas.

• The loss of access to the community room for resident meetings, coffee mornings and other community activities.

• Concerns regarding potential anti-social behaviour and safeguarding risks.

• Reports that the matter has been referred to the police and that a crime reference number has been issued.

I would therefore be grateful if officers could provide:

1. An update on the current status of the matter.

2. Confirmation of what action has been taken by Brent Council and/or the managing agent to regain possession of the community room.

3. Whether officers consider this matter to be being managed as a high-priority anti-social behaviour and resident safety issue.

Given the concerns expressed by the Residents' Association regarding safety, community cohesion and the loss of an important community facility, I would be grateful for an urgent update.

Kind regards,

Permanent development zoned, 1979 to ????

Same folk were burning furniture inside the large panel system tower block flats of SK until the Building Safety Regulator intervened on the side of protecting public safety.

Same folk in the South Kilburn Public Open Space camped near children's playgrounds (what remains of them)- ongoing.

Careless corporatism zoned forever. Its the Right way.

Who ever is responsible is not managing properly, nor do they know how to lock doors

South Kilburn Open Space damage to its 100 veteran trees by them being broken and then used as fuel for night camp fires by these same folk.

The neglected condition of streets and greens spaces in SK is an un-care invitation, while Westminster cleanses for its new global urban villages programme ongoing.

FAIL BETTER is zoned. These folk won't be damaging and burning any Queens Park veteran trees without facing consequences.

Is this the demolition pending? Good enough quality 2 blocks, but too much green/ community space is enclosed with them. Why have two towers when feudal corporatism could have 4 towers all taller on this site?

The future is not cleaned alleyways between towers, 4 more towers in the Kilburn Wall. And connects into the QP station area sites with planning permission but no build happening for 12 years ongoing.
Meanwhile occupies the community room. Future SK is viewed by market corporatism zoned as a community NOT, a tenanted town without assisted living and without welfare state infrastructure to scale.

More than four towers on this site, as the recent tendency at Kilburn Wall is spreader towers. This whole 'site' could be a single slab towering only, so corporatist, so inhuman are the Brent Growth Zones 'no plans' these days. Of course the community wreaker gangs occupying, intimidating locals and setting fires are part of this corporatist war for taking public land and public goods.
