I hope that this will inspire similar (green) initiatives in due course
where, and when, it is possible.

Another great community project supported by Friends of Barham Library.

We could do so much more if Brent Council engaged and listened to us and stopped their silly idea of a 'commercialising' the buildings in Barham Park.

Since the beginning of the new year:

Friends of Barham Park raised over £600 in donations for a Blue Plaque in memory of Titus Barham who donated his home and gardens for the "enjoyment of local people".

This week Friends of Barham Park received confirmation of a £500 grant from Love Where You Live to celebrate the unveiling of the Blue Plaque - probably in early May.

Friends of Barham Library made a successful bid for £19,500 to expand the activities of our Memory Lounge for people with dementia and their carers. Our Memory Lounge now meets twice a week.

Together with the Memory Lounge Friends of Barham Library are acquiring a Defibrillator for Barham Park - all paid for from local donations.

This is all on top of all the good work done by our volunteers of providing activities for local people - on to of our fantastic Community Library.

I generally agreed with the points that were made by Paul Lorber in the context of Bulb planting.
However, I'll also use this opportunity to remind Mr Lorber about the part he played in the regeneration of Chalk Hill Estate, and how the pavements within the vicinity of it are (now) often strewn with shopping trolleys from the local Asda superstore, let alone the obviously flawed design and poor maintenance, pest infestations, and drug dealing, all of which contribute to the way that many long-suffering tenants feel from day to day as they endure the poor conditions that stand in stark and clear contrast to the way that the so-called 'regeneration' was sold to the former tenants of the estate run by the very council (he once led) with a fresh idea for commercializing' the buildings in Barham Park, he now disparagingly describes as ''silly.''

The current Leaders of Brent Council are responsible for the way Chalk Hill Estate is being managed. They employ and manage the highly paid council officers who should be addressing these issues on a daily basis. Have you contacted the Brent Council Chief Executive, your local Councillors and your local police about your concerns???

Barham Park is a wonderful heritage site gifted to the people of Wembley for recreation and needs to be fully protected with its buildings used as absolutely vital community spaces for the local community to use - we don't need office space, shops and airb&b accommodation in Barham Park.

Chalk Hill Estate used to be a complete no go area, after regeneration it's a much nicer place to live with a truly fantastic purpose built community centre and community gardens. If there are problems there get your community together and complain to Brent Council.
