Many thanks, Martin for publicising this. This is the second in a series of poetry events organised by the innovative wonderful and committed Brent Library staff . (The first was with Sri Lankan poets at Ealing Road Library and it was a privilege to have attended. I was enthralled by the scope and beauty and impact of their wide-ranging work). As to this event, anyone wanting to know more re Imtiaz Dharker (and apologies to the other fine poets who will be there for singling her out), you can listen to her talking about her life and picking music she loves on Radio 3 Private Passions https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m001zgfj. It's a smashing programme.
Poetry isn't merely a jumble of words that can seem nonsensical. The finest poem is clever and gentle, humorous yet peculiar, captivating and one-of-a-kind. The language dances effortlessly, like gentle raindrops cascading from the sky.
