Cllr Sunita Hirani (Independent - Kenton)
Cllr Sunita Hirani, yesterday lodged her papers with Brent Electoral Services as an Independent candidate in Kenton ward, after she was suspended from the Conservative Party.
She explained her decision to Kenton residents on Facebook:
Dear Kenton Residents,
I am writing to you directly and personally to share an important update about my political position.
My membership of the Conservative Party was recently suspended, shortly before the close of nominations on 9 April 2026. Despite my repeated requests for clarification, no clear reason has been communicated to me. Given the timing, this has been deeply upsetting and distressing, particularly in light of my continued hard work and commitment to serving our community.
After careful reflection, discussions with supporters, and most importantly putting you, my residents, first, I have decided to resign my membership of the Conservative Party and continue my work as an Independent Councillor.
This decision has not been taken lightly. I stood for election in 2022 to serve Kenton with integrity, honesty, and determination, and that commitment remains unchanged.
My priority has always been, and will continue to be, to represent the residents of Kenton Ward.
As an Independent Councillor, I will be free to:
Speak up without fear, favour, or intimidation on the issues that matter to Kenton
Work constructively with councillors of all parties
Put residents’ concerns first, every single time
I remain fully committed to helping residents with local issues, whether that is housing, safety, schools, fly-tipping, parking, or navigating the council .
My door remains open, and I am here for you.
Thank you for the trust, kindness, and support so many of you have shown me
It means more than I can adequately put into words.
I hope to continue earning that trust as your Independent voice on Brent Council.
With sincere thanks,
Sunita Hirani

Interesting that she was 'suspended' and then replaced as a candidate by the man who was deselected by *members* just months ago... seems like a stitch up.
I agree that the timing of Sunita's suspension looks very suspicious!
From what I could see, as an independent observer, Sunita has been far more active in the Kenton community than either of her fellow Conservative councillors for that Ward over the past four years. If you live in Kenton, and were thinking of voting Conservative on 7 May, you would do well to give one of your votes to Sunita Hirani.
No stitch up and karma. Play dirty and a serial liar then it will bite you. We need decent, kind and honest councillors
Exciting to see Cllr Sunita Hirani potentially splitting the vote. Wonder who that favours edging in instead
The nasty party has resumed its tricks and the knives are out. Hopefully, the voters of Brent will place their confidence in those who wish to serve the community and not their personal self-interests. No golf greens in the Civic Centre please.
It was a stich up in the first place with an attempted leadership hijack by Hirani and her supporters. Bob Blackman (the dark destroyer) intervened, failed at first attempt but succeeded at the 2nd. Kansagra was woken from the 'dead' and the crafty assassin paid the price of her treachery.
She’s had a glow up since leaving the tories. See what stopping hate does to you
Have heard that she is a very good proactive councillor - very surprised the Tories let her go.
Is she a goodie or a baddie?
What definition are you using?
Miriam Webster
baddie
noun
a confident, stylish, and attractive woman
What does baddie mean?
Baddie refers to someone, usually a woman, who is confident, stylish, and attractive.
Cllr Sunita Hirani worked hard for the community showing up those who take the councillors allowances but do nothing.
She was not our ward councillor but she was very approachable and willing to advise anyone over local issues.
Definitely a baddie
This is to let you know about the situation concerning Cllr Sunita Hirani
Sunita Hirani was suspended from the Conservative Party pending criminal activities which has been referred to the Metropolitan Police.
Below is a statement from the Conservative Party:
Sunita Hirani was suspended from the Conservative Party pending an internal investigation into alleged criminal activity. During this process, Ms Hirani chose to resign her membership before the full evidence and allegations could be formally presented to her.
The matters that led to her suspension have now been referred to the Metropolitan Police.
Brent Conservatives expect the highest standards and take these issues extremely seriously. We fully support the Conservative Party’s commitment to upholding the highest standards of integrity and conduct. We will not be commenting further while the appropriate authorities continue their investigations.

Cllr Hirani has responded via the local press: Cllr Hirani claims she has “asked repeatedly” for answers as to why she was suspended and “won’t rest” until she has got to the bottom of it. She feels it is “a deliberate act” to damage her reputation and impact her chances of re-election when voters go to the polls on May 7.
The LDRS understands that Cllr Hirani has since involved a legal team and issued cease and desist letters to the Conservatives over the claims. She said: “I want to clear my name. I want to find out what’s going on.”

I am amazed but not surprised at the duplicity surrounding the suspension of Sunita Hirani as interim membership secretary of the newly formed Kenton Residents’ Association Brent (KRAB). It was made abundantly clear to me at the beginning of March this year that everything that could be done would be done to damage and discredit Cllr. Sunita Hirani and her chances of being re-elected as an Official Brent West Conservative Candidate in the Kenton Ward of Brent Council for the May 7th local elections.
I understand from my informant that the coordinated attack on Sunita was called ‘Operation Revenge’ and was started with a series of anonymous and accusation emails sent under the name of ‘David Pilgrim’ with an email address of ‘Harrow Planning Watch’ way back in August 2025. Neither the name nor the email address could be verified, and no address nor phone number were provided.
The aim of ‘Operation Revenge’ was to maximise damage to Sunita and so destroy her chances of being re-elected as a Councillor. The ‘no-holes-barred’ attack included anyone associated with Sunita including her family and friends and unfortunately for one other Conservative Councillor, a close friend of Sunita’s, he also got caught up in the ‘attack’ at a pivotal moment when it came to the nomination process and timing at the beginning of April and was also unable to stand for re-election. I understand that the consequences of this was termed ‘acceptable co-lateral damage’.
Sunita Hirani was re-selected as one of the Kenton Ward Candidates by a democratically organised meeting of the Brent West Conservative Party membership and her nomination endorsed by their Executive Committee. Whilst all the communications regarding this very nasty business have been under the umbrella of the Conservative Campaign Headquarters (CCHQ), my informant is advising that we should look to outside organisations putting pressure on the CCHQ to de-select Sunita.
My investigations will continue.
