Not a convincing statement by Cllr Butt is it? Did he actually say anything of substance other than, (reading between the lines), he likes to build flats for non-Brent residents and therefore gentrify our Borough. As in Neasden, Chinese investors are being shown round the proposed redevelopment site there, the same in Old Oak. Just go to Rent City (Wembley Park) and try to find people who've lived in Brent before moving there.

"...gentrify our Borough". Development seems to be a dirty word these days. The borough needs investment and development. It needs people who have and can spend their money locally to support the local economy.

The borough has to be open to new businesses, development and new people. It will not prosper or improve otherwise. This is good for local people too. Times change.

As a resident in the borough for over 20 years, I have witnessed an increase in crime, littering, fly-tipping and antisocial behaviour (to name a few issues). Many good residents (who contributed to the area) have moved out.

Well done to Brent for welcoming and allowing development (yes, quality of some of the new developments has been a problem, but hopefully this will be better addressed moving forward).

Of course the hard work, efforts and voice of existing communities should not be ignored, but I don't see how retaining an old empty building will best serve the people (old and new) of the borough today. Their work and achievements should however be acknowledged and carried forward to any new development in some way. It would be wrong for there to be no lasting legacy or benefit (and I am taking about to/for the black community in the area).

Interesting that the council had £2m to spend on the Wembley Library refurb but can't afford refurb Bridge Park.

The Centre will actually move from its present site under the Council's plans, to a new position to the south of the overall Bridge Park/Unisys site. The plans will have to be redrawn if it were to be refirbished where it is. It is part of a much larger development the council are calling Hillside Corridor which involves the two curved Unisys buildings and other buildings on Hillside - the present adult edycation building on Tybridge Way and the Altimira Villa. There was an exhibition late last year. See the review here: https://wembleymatters.blogspot.com/2024/11/bridge-park-consultation-exhibition.html
