Cricklewood sees off pitiable South East Alliance fantasists

Happy in our diversity
Muhammed Butt, leader of Brent Council, other councillors and residents
The Brent community today came out once again in all its diversity to tell the extreme right South East Alliance that their attempts to spread division and discord in our streets was not welcome. Much to the irritation and annoyance of residents and shopkeepers the Alliance had come to Cricklewood for the fourth time to protest against what they are determined to call Muslim Brotherhood offices above a shop in Cricklewood Broadway. It isn't, and never was, such offices and the HQ is in Austria. Never mind, the SEA meandered their way to Cricklewood, fuelled by pub stops, huddled outside an undertakers and at great public expense, in the form of police overtime, shouted a few inaudible slogans.

In their delusion they will represent this as an enormous victory, complete with Star Wars style soundtrack, on a YouTube video.  It wasn't - it was just a tad pathetic.

20 or so South East Alliance outside the undertakers
They are a tiresome group and North West London  United hope they won't come again - but if they do they will be opposed.

Cricklewood says 'Oh, no, not that lot again!' but ready to stand united against the SE Alliance

Most people I have spoken to in Cricklewood while leafleting about Saturday's 'Fascists not welcome here' demonstration have reacted with disbelief that a group that has so clearly failed to muster any support is coming to disturb their neighbourhood again.

However, they were once again (with a bored sigh) prepared to see them off again.

Only a handful of the South East Alliance turned up last time with a massive police escort and many more police were parked in vans in side streets ready for any trouble. The SEA were opposed by hundreds of local people with Brent Council leader Muhammed Butt and prospective Labour candidate Dawn Butler also in attendance.

Shopkeepers and families in flats above the shops were especially fed up when they heard the news which will mean four summer Saturday's disrupted for them.

The SE Alliance and their motley group of associates will try and exploit recent events in the Middle East and in Rotherham to try and muster additional support so North West London United is again mounting a peaceful counter-demonstration to show that the community is united.

Supporters should get down to 113 Cricklewood Broadway, opposite the Crown Moran, for 11am on Saturday morning.  Placards ridiculing the SEA would be particularly welcome.

Deluded Fascists, coming to Cricklewood again on August 30th, will again be opposed by NW London United

The SEA (South East Alliance - AKA Silly Extremist Amateurs) have announced that they are coming to Cricklewood again on August 30th.

Despite being told by police, local residents and shopkeepers that the offices above the modest Cricklewood Broadway shop that they have targeted never did belong to the Muslim Brotherhood, and that the tenants have moved away, the SEA still claim they are protesting against the MB.

Really they are trying to sow seeds of division and mistrust  in a community that on the whole gets along well together and can do without daytrippers from Essex ,with nothing better to do on a Saturday, stirring things up.

Their last outing was opposed by the local community with Brent Council leader Muhammed Butt present, alongside Dawn Butler, Labour's General Election candidate for Brent Central.

On that occasion the SEA Alliance  mustered, at the outside,  only 15 supporters and despite their bluster were clearly embarrassed at their lack of support. When they tried to characterise being kept in their 'pen' surrounded by police as a victory even one of their own supporters suggested on Facebook that they weren't facing up to their failure.

So why organise united community support against such a small,  rather pathetic and deluded group?

The answer from North West London United is that despite this all being true, they represent a dangerous set of ideas and assumptions as can be seen on their Facebook site LINK  They are vehemently anti-Muslim and  have links with extreme groups such as as the English Volunteer Force and the Scottish Volunteer Force.
From the SEA Facebook site
The local community and tradespeople on Cricklewood Broadway have felt threatened and trapped in their homes and shops when the SEA came to Cricklewood before. That it is why it is important to stand up to them and thus also stand in solidarity with the local community.

Say No to Divide and Rule.

Ultra-right SEA sent packing by united Cricklewood community today

Between 7 to 15  far-right  Islamophobic South East Alliance members attempted to march in Cricklewood today and were met by between 300 and 400 local people standing up for their communiy, including Brent Council leader Muhammed Butt and the prospective parliamentary candidate for Brent Central Dawn Butler.

The counter demonstration was organised by umbrella group North West London United and was supported by hundreds of local residents, trade unionists as well as religious leaders and councillors.
A lively samba band accompanied the anti-racists introducing a note of celebration of Cricklewood's diversity into the event.

Please get to Cricklewood by 11am on Saturday

North West London United are asking people opposing the South East Alliance march in Cricklewood to arrive earlier at 11am outside 113 Cricklewood Broadway.

This follows news that the South East Alliance are meeting at 11.30am at Kilburn Station and intend to set off along Shoot Up Hill at 12 noon. We need to be ready for with our peaceful united demonstration before they get to the Broadway.

Labour shifts budget meeting to support anti-fascist unity demonstration

The Deputy Leader of Brent Council, Cllr Michael Pavey, has confirmed that the Budget Meeting scheduled for tomorrow will now start later at 2pm to enable councillors to attend the counter demonstration in Cricklewood.

North West London United  has called for supporters of Cricklewood's diverse but united community to assemble at 113 Cricklewood Broadway from noon tomorrow.

The community is opposing a demonstration by a small extreme right-wing group, the South East Alliance, who are returning to the area after their failed march several weeks ago. The SEA Alliance recently took down their Facebook page which had much evidence of their Islamophobia in comments and photographs and have started a new sanitised page.

Opponents remain in no doubt of their true nature and are determined that they should not disrupt and divide our community.

Cricklewood community, religious leaders & councillors unite against nazi threat

The community mobilising against the racists
The SEA on their last outing to Cricklewood

Residents, community associations, faith groups, trade unions and local politicians have united against a demonstration due to be held by an openly nazi group in Cricklewood this weekend.
The Rt Rev Pete Broadbent, Bishop of Willesden and Deputy Bishop of London, the North West Islamic Cultural Centre,  Rabbi Aaron Goldstein of the Northwood and Pinner Liberal Synagogue, Brent Trades Council, Muhammed Butt, leader of Brent Council, Andrew Dismore, London Assembly Member for Barnet and Camden and Shahrar Ali of Brent Green Party are among those who have signed a statement initiated by North West London United calling on people to oppose the fascist march on Saturday July 19th, and show them that there is no place for racism in our multicultural community.

The Brent Labour Group has changed the date of its budget meeting to enable councillors to attend.

The South East Alliance (an offshoot of the Essex branch of the English Defence League) includes Hitler-worshippers and has links to Ulster Loyalist groups. They are vurulently anti-Muslim. They have declared their intention to march to 113 Cricklewood Broadway, which they claim is the UK headquarters of the Muslim Brotherhood. The Metropolitan Police have said that the present occupants have no connection with the Brotherhood.

North West London United is asking everyone who is opposed to SEA’s message of hate to join in a peaceful demonstration this Saturday at 12 noon on Cricklewood Broadway.
A spokesperson for North West London United said
Cricklewood is one of the most multicultural areas in the UK and we are proud of our diversity. The intention of this fascist group is to provoke hatred and division, something that has no place in our community. A big presence of local residents to oppose the fascist march on Saturday will send a clear signal that their violent racism is not welcome here.

North West London United against return of fascist group to Cricklewood

Racists and Fascists are once again targeting Brent. The South East Alliance have said they are returning to Cricklewood Broadway on July 19th after the local community mobilised against them a few weeks ago.

The group are pretending that they are protesting about a Muslim Brotherthood office above a shop despite the fact that the police said the occupants have left, and in any case they were not the Muslim Brotherhood itself.

The real reason is that the racists can't stand the fact that not only is Brent multi-cultural but that the community gets on well together most of the time and people are positive about being part of a diverse neighbourhood. They are prepared to stand up and defend their neighbours and their neighbourhood.

The SE Alliance come from outside the area in order to stir up racial and anti-Muslim prejudice. An adhoc group has been formed called North West London United to oppose them on July 19th. NW London United aims to bring all members of the community together to tell the South East Alliance that they are not wanted here.

North West London United has prepared a statement that they ask people and I have been happy to do so:
-->
The South East Alliance (SEA), a group of racist, Islamophobic thugs is threatening to return to Cricklewood on Saturday July 19th. This group, made up of remnants of the Essex branch of the EDL, includes known fascists and has links to Ulster loyalists. They say they are demonstrating against the headquarters of the Muslim Brotherhood, but since that organisation moved to Austria in April before the SEA came to Cricklewood on 14th June, they clearly intend simply to bring their message of hatred to disrupt Cricklewood’s vibrant multicultural community.
In Cricklewood, as in the whole of North West London, we are proud of our diversity. Here people live and work together, children study, play and grow up together in mutual respect, regardless of faith or skin colour, language or place of birth. We will not tolerate attempts to divide us or stir up hatred. We stood united on June 14th to show the SEA that there is no place here for their racism and Islamophobia. We ask you to join us on 19th July to do the same again.

Residents and activists block Cricklewood Broadway to stop Fascist march

Anti-fascists and residents block Cricklewood Broadway
The South East Alliance are brought to a halt
Fifty or so members of the far-right group South East Alliance were brought to a halt on Cricklewood Broadway when local residents and activists occupied the road to stop them proceeding. Despite police lines trying to push them back to clear the road, residents stood firm with a little determined pushing back, and the line held.

The SEA were ostensibly protesting against what they claimed to be Muslim Brotherhood offices at 113a Cricklewood Broadway. (on their Facebook page they called it Cricklewood High Street).  In fact the group that previously occupied the offices had been minor sympathisers of the MB and not the MB itself and, as the police have stated, moved out some time ago.

The police themselves seemed rather confused as they had put up an enclosure outside 119 Cricklewood Broadway and tried to get the anti-fascists to stand there to no avail.

The SEA was about 50 strong and out-numbered 3:1 by the counter demonstrations. After making short speeches, entirely to themselves, the SEA turned round and heavily escorted by police went back to Kilburn station.

Residents celebrated what they saw as a victory over attempts to divide a diverse but united community.

Anti-Fascist Demonstration Saturday Cricklewood 11am

Historical precedent

Message from Brent and Harrow Unite Against Fascism
We have heard that a particularly unsavoury group of fascists known as the South East Alliance plan to invade Cricklewood on Saturday June 14th at 12.00 noon. Their pretext is to call for the banning of the Muslim Brotherhood, but they have a record of wider Islamopohobia, apparentlythey're made up of remnants of the former Essex EDL.

We are therefore calling on all anti-racists in Brent & Harrow - and neighbouring boroughs - to assemble at 11.00 am outside 113 Cricklewood Broadway NW2 6TU in defence of Cricklewood's vibrant multicultural community just as we did when Britain First came to Cricklewood in January.
Here's their Facebook invitation: LINK
Message from the Metropolitan Police
We have been informed that the South East Alliance plan to demonstrate outside the premises of 113a Cricklewood Broadway, NW2, on Saturday 14th June.  We anticipate this will start from 11am.  They are demanding the British Government ban the Muslim Brotherhood and associated organisations.

The company that occupies 113a Cricklewood Broadway states they are not part of the Muslim Brotherhood. (My emphasis MF)

We are aware that there will be a counter demonstration by groups associated with the anti-fascist movement.

There is an appropriate policing plan in place to deal with this demonstration.
