I don't know how true this is but if it is true it needs to be regulated - I am told that tenants can lose the fees they have paid to letting agencies /estate agents for credit and reference checks if the landlord of the property they are trying to rent withdraws the property once the reference check is underway.Surely it cannot be beyond the wit of the Powers That Be to ensure that at the point of take up of references, there is a legally binding contract that landlords will become liable for fees incurred bythe tenant if the landlord pulls out. This would be a bit like when an employer makes a job offer that is subject to references.
I agree with Nan I mean I don't know any of the facts either but I want to comment as well. The thing that has been talked about is wrong and a bad thing and shouldn't happen if it does. And surely the (fill in an important name) should do something about the thing. It's Brent Labours fault.
