The other evening I found it quicker to walk from Alperton to Wembley Park as the traffic was so snarled up along the High Road. The condition of the High Road is poor and badly in need of resurfacing and fresh road markings, but such work is bound to be disruptive.
There are two sections of the High Road that are currently being considered for works. The A404 High Road Wembley from Park Lane to Ealing Road is on Brent Council's 2023-24 resurfacing programme and due to be completed by the end of the financial year (March 2024).
Detailed investigations of underlying issues of the Park Lane to Wembey Triangle section are underway and there are some design risks to be mitigated before 'substantial' remedial works can start. Brent Council says these works have not yet been scheduled and will need to be done at a favourable time of the year, probably summertime.
Meanwhile the High Road is inspected each month and any intervention level defects identified for repair according to priority.

This is long overdue, I was under the impression that these works were to take place immediately after the installation of the new pavement blocks.
I cannot see the Park Lane to Wembley Triangle being scheduled for repair until all the new developments i.e Old Copland Site, Ujima House, Fairgate House are completed as they require all the Trucks, and heavy Plant Machinery to be delivered along this point of the High Road, the creation of a new lay-by and removal of current street furniture, Lamps, and paving all needs to take place to allow a crane to be positioned to allow demolition of Ujima House which is pencilled in for February 2024.
Inspected every month....who does Brent Highways think they are kidding. There are huge craters in the road outside Wembley Central Square that have been there for years not months.
What does need to happen is for Brent Council to allow BT Openreach to replace the Copper cable with Fibre Optic Cable from London Road Telecoms Exchange to Wembley Triangle so we can have some decent download speed and not intermittent Broadband, recently it's been appalling, a tortoise would be quicker. This especially galling when BT Openreach boast that Wembley Park has the fastest in the UK!!!!!
So yet more traffic chaos to come for all the residents in the side roads off Ealing Road and Wembley High Road used as rat runs when the main roads are blocked - let's hope the police will actually enforce the 20mph speed limits as we regularly have really aggressive drivers doing well over 40mph in our 20mph roads 😡
Let's also hope the police and council officers will also force the parking regulations - all the time there are motorbikes and cars parked on double yellow lines in Wembley High Road including around the bus stops and road crossings - never see anyone getting moved on let along fined.

I asked Transportation Officers for confirm plans because the condition of the High Road is appalling with massive potholes and invisible lines.
We can only hope that the resurfacing work is well planned and managed so that the inevitable disruption is minimised.
I also raised the issue of cars and motorbikes being parked along the road causing obstruction to buses and other vehicles. The deliver bikers seem to be exempted from parking restriction and do not even need to pay when parked in pay & display bays. In response to my enquiries I was told that this will be reviewed in 2024 - so lets hope that something will be done both about the obstructive parking and the paan spitting.
You hope that something will be done about the paan spitting you must be joking - it's spat in the same places every single day yet Brent Council say they can't catch the people doing it!!!
Why doesn't our Brent Neighbourhood Manager, our Wembley Town Centre Manager, the Wembley Traders Association and Ealing Road Traders Association push for more enforcement so that our area is cleaner and more welcoming to visitors???
