Brent Council case gets curiouser and curiouser

The Employment Tribunal Judgement and papers referred to Cara Davani's 'micro-management' at Brent Council.

It was  interesting therefore that I received an email this morning in response to one I had sent to Brent Communications Team. I had asked if the salaries of Christine Gilbert and Cara Davani were still being paid into private companies.

The reply, although unsigned, came with the sender: Cara Davani brent.foi@mail.icasework.com

It said that my request would be forwarded to the relevant department who would contact me shortly.

An FoI request about Brent's decision to appeal against the Employment Tribunal judgement, submitted independently by another person interested in the case, was also acknowledged in an unsigned email which identified the sender as Cara Davani.

All a bit odd. Is Cara Davani apart from HR now in charge of Freedom of Information requests...about matters relating to herself?

iCasework is a case management system that the Council uses to handle FOI requests, complaints, and requests for information from councillors or MPs. Cases get assigned to a particular service area and only the service director can authorise other members of staff to access each case.

You can send emails from the system and in the past, the system has made it appear that the email has been sent straight from the user's @brent.gov.uk email address. Brent has recently switched to a newer version of iCasework but I don't see why the old system would be capable of this but the new system is not - why would it lose useful features?

It looks to me like this case was assigned to HR as it deals with payroll so either she has responded herself (unlikely - she would see it as below her) or someone has logged on to the system in her name to access this request.

But why would someone else access the system in her name? We are not allowed to share logins for obvious reasons and I can't see Davani being willing to share hers - has she been suspended?!?

Lol she's still there lording it up, she believes all managers should be honest, funniest thing I heard today I almost fell out of my chair during her quarterly meeting. I don't know how she could say it with a straight face. There she was promoting Black History month too - wonder if Rosemarie would like to come and be one of her guest speakers,,, hmmm. I'm still chuckling. The bareface cheek.

Suspended??? Chance would be a fine thing.

She's just shameless and she could not care less.

Well Martin, you did ask, who is running the council. I think that the answer is clear!

I'd be interested to find out what the councils head of equality thinks about all of this and the conversations she has with the director...oh, it's with the racist bully! I'd love to be a fly on that wall. It's a joke. Not to worry, here comes Pavey to the rescue!

The equalities team is something else. If a independent investigation ever happened, it would uncover wrong doing in that very team. Staff in that team have disappeared with the click of a finger. Here today, gone tomorrow.

Under CD's reign anything and everything is possible.

You know I wondered myself how she stood there with all this going on. That really takes some front.

Brent Council would benefit from a bit of housekeeping and bid farewell to some key players. They know who they are. A fresh start for them elsewhere, in their own companies maybe.

Wouldn't happen to be another black female would it?
