Sarah Marquis absent from tonight's planning meeting

Sarah Marquis, Chair of Brent Planning Committee has sent her apologies to tonight's meeting. No reason was given. Cllr Agha is in the chair and Cllr Patel is also absent. This means that tonight's decision on the controversial Wembley Masterplan development will be made by just six people.

I have now heard that they are absent on legal advice because they have not had time to read ALL the enormous documentation attached to the applications to be heard tonight.

We must presume that the six present have read it all...

  1. This is such a shambles it can't get any worse when the most sensible person on the Planning Committee is absent. They should refuse point blank and Quintain or Lone Star whatever they are now called should start again from scratch.

  2. quelle surprise!!!
    Saw that one coming

I thought Barnet were a joke until I read this. Planning used to be a committee that made mostly sensible decisions, or at least tried to. And no, I don't blame Marquis.

  4. Cllr Patel told me she has "abstained against" the developments - not sure if that's voting against or abstaining from voting at all.

    1. Competent English should surely be a basic requirement in people considering complicated matters on our behalf.
